Cl\u00ednicamente se caracteriza por la p\u00e9rdida de memoria, pero adem\u00e1s presenta aparejados otros s\u00edntomas tanto de tipo cognitivo, en la personalidad y el comportamiento.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">La enfermedad suele presentarse a partir de los 60 a\u00f1os, aument\u00e1ndose el riesgo conforme las personas envejecemos y tambi\u00e9n por otros factores como la gen\u00e9tica, las patolog\u00edas cerebrovasculares o inadecuados h\u00e1bitos de vida. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Tambi\u00e9n existe un Alzheimer de inicio temprano, con un inicio del deterioro cognitivo antes de los 60 a\u00f1os, que representa el 5% de las personas afectadas: un 1% debido a causas gen\u00e9ticas y, el otro 4% por diferentes factores.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">El desarrollo de la enfermedad es progresivo y en sus fases m\u00e1s avanzadas los afectados sufren un deterioro de su autonom\u00eda que desencadenar\u00e1 en dependencia incluso para la realizaci\u00f3n de las actividades m\u00e1s b\u00e1sicas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Existen tratamientos farmacol\u00f3gicos y otros de tipo no farmacol\u00f3gico siendo ambos \u00fatiles y complementarios. Aun no existiendo cura los primeros son especialmente eficientes en las fases iniciales de la demencia dado que ayudan a paliar s\u00edntomas y ralentizar la evoluci\u00f3n, optimizando la calidad de vida de los afectados.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Son de vital importancia los tratamientos no farmacol\u00f3gicos espec\u00edficos para paliar los s\u00edntomas de la enfermedad principalmente dirigidos a fomentar la autonom\u00eda y el bienestar de los afectados y las personas que los cuidan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">El trabajo de terapias no farmacol\u00f3gicas del Alzheimer y las demencias se realiza por un equipo profesional interdisciplinar formado por Psic\u00f3logos, Fisioterapeutas, Trabajadores sociales, Dues y distintos Auxiliares. Siendo siempre un trabajo coordinado en equipo y orientado espec\u00edficamente a cada usuario dentro de centros especializados.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Las terapias se apoyan en t\u00e9cnicas como la psicoestimulaci\u00f3n, la estimulaci\u00f3n cognitiva, la reminiscencia, la musicoterapia y arteterapia, la orientaci\u00f3n en la realidad, la estimulaci\u00f3n sensorial, la terapia con animales, el ejercicio f\u00edsico o la psicomotricidad, entre otras.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Estas terapias son muy \u00fatiles porque contribuyen a mejorar el estado de salud general y calidad de vida de las personas enfermas y sus cuidadores, optimizando su estado
